Are you passionate about giving back to the community and creating positive change? enCompass welcomes individuals who are interested in volunteering with us!

We strive to match volunteers with opportunities that align with their skills, interests, and our program needs. This can include cooking, baking, recreation, and other life skills activities directly with clients, yard maintenance at our residences, administrative supports, and more.

We offer flexible volunteering options to fit your availability. Our programs are located in north central, west, and south central Edmonton, with good transit options for easy access.

For more information on how to volunteer and make an impact in your community, email us. A criminal record check will be required to participate in volunteer opportunities.

enCompass is recruiting visionary Board Members to strengthen community safety in Edmonton

Who We Are

Since 1949, enCompass has supported individuals to overcome barriers that contribute to justice involvement and social disorder. We provide court and justice navigation, crisis response, safety planning, housing supports, employment and education transitions, counselling, and culturally responsive services. We build safe and inclusive communities by helping individuals navigate change and lead healthy, meaningful lives.

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking new voices to join the enCompass Board to guide our work and inspire transformation in the sector and community safety space. enCompass recently embarked on a new strategic direction and is actively seeking Board members with governance expertise who can advance the agency’s purpose and the strategic and governance functions that support it.

We invite applications from leaders with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Governance and strategic leadership
  • Finance
  • Fund development or community/government relations
  • Law, justice or public policy

We especially welcome applicants who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do:

As a Board Director, you will:

  • Provide strategic oversight and sound governance
  • Champion community safety and social impact
  • Support organizational growth and sustainability
  • Serve as an ambassador for enCompass and its mission
  • Contribute your expertise to help guide the agency’s future direction

What You Can Expect:

You’ll join a committed, professional, and forward-thinking Board that values thoughtful dialogue, collaborative decision-making, learning, and meaningful community impact.

You’ll also have the opportunity to help shape the next era of enCompass — as we strengthen services, expand partnerships, and advance community safety for all.

Time Commitment:

Approximately 4-6 hours every two months, including Board meetings, committee participation, and occasional special events.

Interested? Let’s Talk:

Please submit a brief expression of interest, including the skills, knowledge, and expertise you offer to: enCompassBoard@myencompass.ca. The Governance Committee Chair will reach out to discuss your interest and qualifications, and you may be asked to submit a formal application.
